I should point out that there is no auto-masking going on in the gallery show cycles. This is just straight auto painting out of the paint synthesizer onto the canvas. The things that appear to be auto-masked are just how the intelligent paint is reacting and responding, no selection masks used.
There is paint buildup in the canvas over multiple GS cycles, but no start or end processing is being used here.
