Zoom-In
Interesting MSG based procedural art image. Note the apollonian packing detail hidden in there. I also like the circles that look like zoom-in detail magnifiers. This is another image generated by stacking MSG processors into a single image channel and then color gradient mapping that image to get the final full color output.

Portal
Cast shadow's from mono-chrome MSG processors gradient mapped for final image. Directed evolution in the Evolution Editor as usual.

Splat
It hadn't occurred to me to build a splatter paint effect using a text brush. But the 'Split splat splodge' font does an excellent job. Using color range brush size modulation which is what gives the loose edge focus (this is just one quick paint pass using a single paint preset). You can make it a lot tighter (see below), but i kind of like the crazy loose one better.

Bumpy
Depth mapped iteration map fractal. It's all generated with a single MSG preset. This is a single frame capture from an animation test.

Nexus 2
Another iterated escape map fractal. Generated using MSG processors in Studio Artist. The grayscale fractal image is color gradient mapped as a part of the MSG processor chain. It's a pretty simple 2 processor MSG preset.

Op Art
If you stare at this there's a perceived movement aftereffect that starts to occur. At least for me. Generated via directed evolution of MSG processors.

Pin Wheel
Another procedural art MSG derived image. Using spatially modulated color gradient mapping. The pinwheel structure comes from using a polar geometric transformation along with recursive IO routing. You can also see the cpu core splitting in the structure of the recursive IO patterning (4 cpu cores on the machine that generated it).

Hue Shift Modulation
Added a new Hue Shift Modulation processor to Studio Artist's set of MSG processors (modular synthesized graphics). Testing it out in this procedural art image. This is also using spatially modulated color palette mapping.

Generative Art
With all of the talk about generative art on the Studio Artist User Forum recently i thought i'd post some MSG procedural art imagery. This one incorporates some integrated cast shadow lighting (another recent forum topic).
One advantage of working with directed evolution of MSG processors to create generative or procedural abstract art is that you can create very complex underlying mathematical transformations that you'd never stumble upon if you were trying to code it directly using something like processing.

Triangle Grid Overlay
More experiments with cast shadow lighting in MSG processors. Procedural art image generated using directed evolution in the Studio Artist Evolution Editor.

Duality
Photo collage from a movie brush made from a folder of news images. With some overpainting using the paint synthesizer.

Google Glasses
Automatic photo collage generated with a movie brush of soviet propaganda poster art. With some overpainting using the paint synthesizer and a vector paint preset.

Vector Paint Overlay 2
Another experiment working with multiple passes of overlaid vector paint to build up dimensionality on the painted canvas. Two passes with watershed path start regionalization. One pass with bezier curves derived from the Color Edge ip op that the paint synthesizer paints in. Again, partial transparency for the paint passes is important for the overall look (the individual paint passes are blending on top of rather than obscuring what is underneath). And cast shadow lighting is integrated into the vector paint presets.

Scribbly
Another study working with a different kind of tube paint. Depth masking is the key to getting the lip on the paint strokes. Also using the new DualBlend fill option in Paint Fill Setup.

Vector Paint Overlay
From a series that is working through some ideas on building up dimensionality in painting by overlaying multiple passes of vector paint. It incorporates some cast shadow lighting and partial transparency for the different overlay steps.

TubeFace
Working on some lighted tube paint presets. This is using the Paint Brush Load Lighting Effect to build the dimensionality in the paint strokes.

Paint Experiment
Working a little with some paint synthesizer programming. This is using a procedural brush type. The Paint Brush Load is a Gradient Generator based on Fixed Colors 1 and 2. The Procedural Brush Texture is modulating the Fill From (Paint Brush Load) in the Paint Fill Setup control panel. The combination of those 2 styles of modulation work together to create the raised dimensionality of the paint stroke.
