Lissajous Screening

Someone asked me about generating Guilloche patterns in Studio Artist. After thinking about it a little bit i realized you can use a MSG processor as the pattern generator, and then have that drive the paint synthesizer to draw in the patterning. You can also modify the paint synthesizer settings to build screening algorithms based on the patterning. I'm using a lissajous generator for this particular example.

I was surprised at how much i liked these. A simple but pretty effective effect. These were created with a single Lissojous MSG processor in Studio Artist.

Twisted Lissajous

I added a new Lissajous MSG processor this morning to Studio Artist.


It seemed like an obvious visual generator that was missing from the MSG toolkit. Sometimes very simple algorithmic ideas can still lead to really interesting pattern formation.
