Inaugural multi-octave vector sub-division experiment in pre_v6 Edge IpOp effect in all it's messy glory.  Note the issue that needs fixing, ha,ha.  And it is truly going to be a major pain to drop this in everywhere it needs to go, but extremely powerful once it is fully implemented.  Onwards.


I was thinking i didn't need to add a color option for the new vector region render part of this, but a quick experiment with Flat Color Regionize IpOp to simulate shows it is definitely worth adding.  It is amazing how much more versatile the very old Edge IpOp has become in pre_V6.

I'm only using the Edge IpOp and the Flat Color Regionize IpOp effects to do the video processing.

So is the 'bug' in this actually a 'feature'?  It is kind of visually effective.  Food for thought.

Adding some new features to the old Edge IpOp effect in Studio Artist.

Surprisingly effective when used recursively.  Using one of the new edge region output options with this.

The Compeller IpOp is very effective when used with this approach as well if you want to pull it back towards the original coloring after recursively edge regionizing.

Traveling Salesman Sketch Animation Experiment

 

Studio Artist V5.5 has a lot of different features one can use to build TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) sketch effects. I setup a Paint Action Sequence (PASeq) to automatically build a single bezier path TSP Sketch of a series of key-framed movies in a Transition Context. I then used another Studio Artist feature to automatically derive colored regions (the Flat Color Regionize IpOp effects) while keyframe interpolating the single bezier curve sketch effects over time. And this is what i got. Super easy to try experiments like this in Studio Artist.

Focus

 

We use the Sketch Mass IpOp effect to auto-generate a set of stylized hatch sketches that are then turned into a TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) continuous single bezier path sketch.  A thin vector paint preset is then used to paint in that single continuous bezier path into a white canvas.  The Flat Region Colorize IpOp effect is then used to auto-fill all of the individual flat colored pixel regions in the canvas.  I then use a sneaky trick where i stash the last frame output in the Style buffer so i can recursively add it to the output of the next frames Sketch Mass bezier path color fill in.

Goof During Development

 

Looks like a slit scan effect.  But it's just something i dumped out while testing some feature modifications to the Color Simplify IpOp effect in Studio Artist V5.5.4.

Of course i followed the goof down the rabbit hole below.

So i decided to dig a new pit at the bottom of the rabbit hole, adding a denoiser option to Color Simplify in the process, modified my PASeq with some Smartz, and generated the following.
