End of the Road

End of the road below Makena, at a parking lot by the beach in the lava flow there. This started with a video pan that was then processed by the temporal scan tracker in Studio Artist to build a static slit scan style panorama.

New Stitching Experiments

Working on some new code ideas for image stitching. This was generated from a series of frames taken from a video pan. The video is a 180 degree pan taken at the edge of the dock near Nico's and the fish market at Pier 38 in Honolulu harbor.

Kula view

View from Kula looking west shows the west Maui mountains and the island of Lanai off in the distance on the left, and the island of Molokai on the right. This was generated using the Studio Artist temporal scan tracker processing a video pan to generate the static panorama image.

Surfing Goat Farm

Cool place to visit in lower Kula. The goat milk cheese cake is to die for. Lot's of baby surfing goat action as well for animal lovers.

View from Outside the Peter Lik Gallery

Lahana has a pretty interesting gallery scene going on if you have an interest in art. You could spend hours checking out different art galleries in a relatively small area. This video pan converted into a panorama image using the temporal scan tracker (with slit scan settings) was taken outside of the Peter Lik gallery. It's fascinating that the Thomas Barbey gallery is right next door to the Lik gallery, since they are so visually different as artists.

Lavender Farm

There's a really amazing place in Kula up at about 4500 feet that is a lavender farm. This is a 360 degree video pan from up there processed with the temporal scan tracker. I love this kind of approach to making a panorama image much more than something that accurately tracks and matches up feature points since the end result is often more visually interesting than the 'perfect' panorama matchup. I think this image captures the crazy magic of this particular spot on earth.

Parking Lot Spin

Video pan over 270 degrees processed with the Studio Artist temporal scan tracker to build a panorama view. A family of chickens was actually walking across the road when i shot this (welcome to Hawaii), but you can't see them in the photo.

Whole Foods

Static panorama image generated from a video pan in the parking lot of Whole Foods in Kahului. I used the Studio Artist temporal scan tracker. I'm tracking the direction of the pan as opposed to doing anything fancy to alternate reality (like reverse or perpendicular scan directions).

Green Banana Moment

Waiting for breakfast at Green Banana in Paia. The panorama was generated by slit scan processing a video pan using the temporal scan tracker in Studio Artist 4.

Paia Pizza

Slitscan of the back room of Flatbread Pizza in Paia. The slitscan panorama was generated from a pocket video pan using the temporal Scan Tracker in Studio Artist 4.

Flatbread Pizza is really awesome. They make their own nitrate free free range organic pepperoni, it's the only pepperoni pizza i've ever had that isn't greasy.
