More Facet Ideas
Rank Edge IpOp effect. facets and colorization added using the Flat Region Colorize IpOp effect. New denoiser is a pre-filter options in Rank Edge now, very useful for cleaning up noise artifacts (cleaner generated edges).
The trick with the Flat Region Colorize IpOp effect is that the regions in the image used as input need to be flat. No anti-aliased edges (because the individual smoothing pixels in the anti-aliased edge will be considered individual regions by the effect). You can use the min size filter thing at the top to help deal with that, but better just to not generate them in the first place.
Added some Gradient Multi Lighting to this one to make the watercolor like effect.Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Explanation Man
Working with the multi-resolution gradient lighting ideas i was talking about in another post. With the goal of trying to pull the inherent structure in the image out in the z-axis to give the perception of a more 3-dimensional surface. Getting there, but i think i can get it to be much better. I'm still doing it all manually right now jumping back and forth between different Studio Artist image operation effects.
You really want to dial down the Mix when doing this. And don't be afraid to look at Composite options other than Replace (Min being an obvious one to explore).

Evil Oil Look
There is some use of path application repeat index modulation to generate color gradients in the paint strokes. I'm using the new Cycle- Colorful option for the gradient end color, so what it's doing to the color varies from paint stroke to paint stroke.
I'm also using Brush Load Lighting to generate an additional raised look to the paint. And i'm working with positive-negative space auto-selection to control the path start positioning a litle near the end of the paint action sequence that builds this effect up.
