Glorious Leader Declares Best Pandemic Ever

Worked with a series of automatic paint effects and modulated interactive warps to build this one up. Modulation included self, source, and noise fields from Simple Texture ip op (routed to selection buffer). Border effects using the paint synthesizer. And a bunch of different gradient effects to add the lighting depth.

My Plague Year, a3

More auto-mutating temporal image operation effects being run on a curated folder of coronavirus theme images. As my plague year continues.

Like any auto-generative mutation process, you want to let it run over and over again. Images you feel are keepers you grab and save. So don't assume everything you will generate is a desired outcome. You need to use your  individual artistic and aesthetic desires to guide which images you store away to continue working on after you are done auto-mutating in Gallery Show.

At that point, if one of my 'keepers' takes my fancy, i then start working more interactively with it.
So in this piece, i obviously was working with the Interactive Warp effects to get to where i wanted to end up.

And i use a lot of different custom finisher PASeqs that i built for my personal artwork. For this piece, i was working with individual action steps in different PASeqs. As opposed to just running the entire thing.

So remember, you can use a PASeq like a Favorites memory. Each individual PASeq preset can be thought of as a container for a series of different presets stored within it. People forget this (including me), but it's so powerful.

My Plague Year, a2

More temporal image processing of coronavirus images. For this one i messed up the Gallery Show settings, so it was only using a single image for the input to the effect (as opposed to multiple images). Actually works well as an interesting painterly single image processing effect. Added some interactive warp, and 'finish scripts' to complete this.

My Plague Year, a1

Nothing like a global pandemic to get back in the 'let's generate some art every day' groove.

Building a collection of coronavirus images for use as source material. I'm using the Gallery Show option in Studio Artist that lets you use a folder of images as the source material for generating temporal image processing effects. So i use a folder of context sensitive random images instead of frames in an actual movie file for the input to the temporal effects processing.

GalleryShow MSG Mutation

An alternative to generating mutated MSG presets is to use Studio Artist's Gallery Show features. As opposed to working in the MSG Evolution Editor and the MSG Advanced Editor.

I generated the above image and associated new MSG preset automatically, by first selecting a MSG preset category in the Preset Browser i wanted to work off of, and then using the Mutate Cur Factory gallery show Technique option. This Technique option randomly selects one of the current factory presets in the current category displayed in the Preset Browser, and then mutates it to create a new MSG preset for each gallery show display cycle.

By mutation, i mean that the individual parameters in each processor inside of a MSG preset are randomly varied, but the processor order and types of processors are not changed. This is a great way to create new generative imagery (and associated new presets) automatically while still maintaining the characteristics of the original preset.

Generative Fill Regionizer

Working with a new generative fill regionizer paint technique option in gallery show. Generates random regionizer fill presets on the fly (no existing presets needed, it's making them from scratch). I'm using one of the Paint Transform modifiers that forces a randomized vector fill. It's cool because it often times looks like raster paint, but is totally vector.

I like to run multiple cycles overpainting, with a random favorites preset from a set of water wash effects for the start cycle processing. So you water wash your previous output canvas, then overpaint on top of that.

Generative Paint Boy

Fine Tuning some of the gallery show paint mutation options to provide more control over the mutation process while also allowing for directive paint feature macro edits. So it's mutating 'tube style' paint presets in a favorites folder via morphing of the parameters of 2 randomly selected presets from the favorites folder. The paint paths are generated from a randomized Edge ip op effect. Paint brush size is dynamically modulated taking into account local color variations. All in one gallery show cycle.
