Mobius Maps

I put together a new MSG processor that generates abstract imagery using Mobius maps. There results are interesting since you get various forms of self-similarity generated for the positioning of the shapes.

Local Mayor's Race Continues

The primary election held here recently had a new record 'low' in people who actually voted. And they have this sneaky thing where they include the mayor's race in the primary even though no one actually votes in it, and if one candidate wins 50% of that vote then the mayors race is over. Fortunately that did not happen so it moves to the general election where a few more people might actually vote.

This was generated using the Studio Artist paint synthesizer. I was going for a blocky watercolor on rough paper look.

Uahi Grill

View from the Uahi Grill while waiting for takeout. Constructed from a flip camera video pan processed with the temporal scan tracker in Studio Artist 4. I constructed a second layer based off of the generated video panorama image using the cellular abstraction ip op.

Still More Procedural Abstraction

What i love about directed evolution is that you can come up with some fascinating visually complex imagery very quickly that would really be impossible to create manually through 'build it up from scratch' hand editing of the MSG processor chain and it's associated internal parameters. Or even worse from 'code it up from scratch" approaches (no offense to you Processing devotes out there, but that is the reality). Created via directed evolution of MSG processors in Studio Artist 4.

More Procedural Abstraction

More abstract procedural art created by directed evolution of MSG processors in Studio Artist.

Mobius Map Investigations

I've been checking out the math behind Mobius maps. These images were made by treating the mapping system as a fractal.
