Cool Paint
There's a really interesting paint synthesizer patching approach you can setup in the Brush Load control panel in Studio Artist 4 that generates self-similarity fractal patterns as the paint is applied to the canvas. Here's an abstract example of this kind of effect used with region fill as brush pen mode.
The image below is essentially the same paint preset but edited to pull a tube of paint in interactive pen mode rather than laying down large single brush nib regions using region fill as brush pen mode. It shows how even really simple editing changes can dramatically change the look and feel of a paint preset.
