You can choose what the smart close pack algorithm is working off of now in pre_V6. I used Mondo Simplify to flatten the source image into the style buffer, then dialed the smart close pack to work off of the style for the smart variance constraint. This preserves the boundaries in the flattened source for the close packing as seen above.
